Posted By admin On 03.03.20This is a PowerPoint BUG, as described here: PowerPoint 2016 version 16.16 (180812) for Mac breaks boldface & center text after drag & drop slides from other presentation. If you drag and drop one or more slides from other PowerPoint presentation (or 'Insert - Slides From - Other Presentation), text boldface is removed, as well as center text alignment.
The issue does not arise with the top text box on the slice, but with all others below. No problem with previous PowerPoint versions. The issue arose yesterday with 16.16 (180812) version. MacOS 10.12.6 (16G1510) Sierra on iMac 27‑inch Retina 5K: Apple SSD SM2048L 2 TB Intel Core i7 7th-generation 4.2 GHz (4.5 GHz Turbo Boost) 40 GB RAM Radeon Pro 580 Model identifier: iMac18,3 (mid 2017).

Depending on the old presentation used, sometimes boldface and center are not maintained, as described above, but other times only the center text is not maintained. No problem if I open the old '.pptx' presentation (the one from which I want to insert slides into the new one), select 'File - Save As - File Format - PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentation (.ppt) - Save' and then use such '.ppt' to insert slides from it into the new '.pptx' presentation.

Or if I open the newly saved '.ppt', save it as '.pptx' and use the latter to insert slides from it into the new '.pptx' presentation. So, in other words, it seems that this is NOT a PowerPoint 2016 version 16.16 (180812) for Mac bug, but a '.pptx' file corruption that can be fixed as described above. The amazing thing is that the older '.pptx' presentation with the corruption does show OK when opened. Corruption is only showed when inserting slides from it into a new '.pptx' presentation (unless the older '.pptx' is saved as '.ppt', and that latter used to insert slides from it into the new '.pptx' presentation), or (optional) when such '.ppt' is opened and saved as '.pptx, and that latter used to insert slides from it into the new '.pptx' presentation. Please don't cross-post. Microsoft doesn't monitor these pages for bug reports.
